2. Collection and storage of personal data

a) When visiting the website

When you visit our website, the hosting provider automatically processes technical data (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, browser type) in server logs. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website).

b) When using the comparison tool

The comparison tool stores your comfort preferences and selected destinations only in your browser (local storage) or inside the share link. No personal data is transmitted to us. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (performance of the requested service).

c) Feedback form (optional)

You may voluntarily submit feedback text via the feedback form. We use it exclusively for the validation experiment of this prototype. Please do not submit health or travel-document information. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future (e.g. by email to [email protected]).

d) No obligation to provide data

Providing your data is neither legally nor contractually required. The tool works without an account and without registration.

3. Disclosure of data

Your data is never sold. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Climate data is provided by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0); no personal data is shared with the data source.

4. Storage duration

Feedback submissions are stored only for as long as necessary for the validation experiment and deleted when no longer needed. Server logs are retained in accordance with the hosting provider's retention policy.

5. Cookies, consent and partner links (affiliate)

This website itself does not set any cookies. It only stores your language and comfort preferences in your browser (local storage) so the tool works without an account.

a) Partner links (affiliate)

We participate in an accommodation affiliate program, which is operated via CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction LLC, 530 E. Montecito St., Santa Barbara, CA 93103, USA). When you click a partner link (e.g. "Visit your city" or accommodation links), your browser requests the partner's servers (e.g. anrdoezrs.net) and the partner may set cookies (tracking cookies) to attribute the click and any booking to us as a commission. In addition, the destination provider may set its own cookies.

No personal data (such as name or email address) is transmitted by us to the partner. However, the partner may technically process your IP address, browser type and the referring URL when the link is clicked.

b) Legal basis and consent

Cookies of partner networks are only set if you give your consent via the consent manager (Klaro, self-hosted). The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (e.g. by resetting the consent tool or contacting us by email). If you decline, partner links are opened without the affiliate tracking parameters.

c) Storage duration and third countries

Partner cookies have a limited lifetime (usually a few weeks to several months, depending on the cookie). CJ Affiliate is based in the USA; data transfers to the USA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Further information is available in the privacy policies of CJ Affiliate and the accommodation provider.

Partner links are marked as advertising and may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

6. Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

To exercise your rights, an email to [email protected] is sufficient.

7. Right to complain to a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR (Art. 77 GDPR). The supervisory authority of your place of residence or the place of the alleged infringement is responsible.

8. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the lock symbol in your browser's address bar and by "https://" in the address line.
